After the 10-year siege, Troy finally fell in the hands of the Greeks. The remaining chieftains each went back to his country, to meet his own fate. Agamemnon fell in the hands of his avenging son Orestes. Menelaus went back to Sparta with Helen. Odysseus though remained a wanderer for another 10 years, having encountered a lot of obstacles thrown by the gods for his arrogance over the victory at Troy. But after his sufferings in the hands of various temptresses and monsters, he was finally forgiven and Athena led him back to his homeland, Ithaca where his faithful wife Penelope was waiting for him.
