Hermes was knowledgeable about several things. Starting from his childhood, when he was a shepherd and herdsman he learned the ways of flocks and how to protect them. He was rewarded with a gift of the Caduceus by his Father Zeus and with this he was able to calm his flocks and make them sleep. He knew a lot about making string instruments, and was the inventor of the Lyre, an ancestor of the guitar! He knew about travel and was rewarded with the honour of being the messenger of Zeus. Read all about how he could have achieved these things in "Hermes the Olympian" a book available on Amazon.com.
