How is the Trojan War similar to the war you see today?

Soldiers die, often for no good real effect; civilians suffer; resources are wasted. Usually the financial cost of waging war ends up far outweighing the financial cost of coming to a settlement. Not always apparent in the beginning of course: America was still mired in the aftermath of the Great Depression in 1939 when World War 2 erupted, and by sitting on the sidelines staged an economic recovery selling resources to belligerents. However as the war in Europe and the Pacific dragged on, the costs mounted to staggering proportions. The Greeks were very conscious of this and usually employed an arbitrator (usually another uncommitted city-state) to try to settle problems by other means, however when personal gain or aggrandisement took over, these processes failed, war ensued and major disruption, damage, disruption, loss of lifeand human misery ensued.

When were thongs invented?

Many fashion historians believe that the thong first appeared in the 1939 World's Fair. New York Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia ordered the city's nude dancers to cover themselves and the thong was invented to just barely do the job. Fashion designer, Rudi Gernreich has been credited with introducing the first thong bikini in 1974. Another reference states that thongs, originally called tangas, first hit the beaches of Brazil in 1977.

Why were young people expected to do mature things in ancient civilization?

By the time a child was 7 or 8 years old they were not considered children, so yes they were expected to be mature. A person was either a baby or grownup in the ancient world. There was no teens ( this didn't come about until 1939) and by the time a person was 30 they were considered old. People didn't live as long as they do today. Boys were sent to knight training at 7 years old and became a knight at 21. Girls were sent to the home of their future husband by the time they were 7 or 8 to be trained in how to behave and run the household. Even the clothing was like miniature adult clothes. Mary Queen of Scots marriage contract was signed at 4 years old and often girls were mothers by age 11 or 12.
