What are the character differences between Achilles and Odysseus and what have they come to stand for in history?

1. Leadership:One of the main differences between Achilles and Odysseus is in the way each of them lead their troops for battle, and perform their roles for their respective communities. Achilles on one hand is one of the greatest warriors ever but, he takes a stand with the Myrmidons by refusing to continue on in the journey to fight in Troy because he is never rewarded. On the other hand, Odysseus is an agreeable character and a peacemaker who simply wants to ensure that no harm comes to his community.2. Their view on Gods: As Achilles is a stubborn warrior who isn't afraid of the Gods, he is a person who would even talk back to him recklessly. But, of course, when he is in need of the Gods' help, he is not afraid to go about getting it any way that he can. On a completely different level however, Odysseus is very different in how he interacts with the Gods. Although he gets most of the sorrows that he has faced from them (the Gods), he doesn't stop believing in them.3. Trouble- maker: On one hand, Achilles does not go looking out for trouble. He is a very calm person who faces opponents that challenge or affront him. On the other hand, Odysseus continuously goes around looking for any and every sort of trouble-by battling people who are far stronger than him.Relationship: Achilles doesn't have any second thoughts about going into battle and leaving his family and friends behind vulnerable. He does not have the same kind of loyalty that Odysseus has. However, Odysseus longs for his wife along the journey that he undertakes, but he is more concerned with getting vengeance with the various suitors who had lined up for his wife Penelope's hand in marriage.
