The River Styx is the most well known river in the Underworld. It is the river of oath. Charon has to ferry the dead souls across it so they can enter the Underworld. The river Lethe is also an Underworld river. It is the river of forgetfulness. If you touch or drink its waters, you will forget your identity.

It is the river that separates the world of the living from the the land of the dead. Souls need to cross this river to get to the underworld where they will stay until the end of time in either Elysium, Asphodel fields or Tartarus. Also the gods took oaths of this river.
