Pleione was a Nymph, not a god, and she was known best for being the mother of the Pleiades (by Atlas) and Calypso.
Pleione was one of the three thousand daughters of Oceanus and Tethys, called Oceanid; in specific a nymph of Mount Kyllene in Arkadia (southern Greece) she may also have been numbered among the Epimelides; protectors of flocks and presided over the multiplication of the animals, for her name means "to increase in number" and her grandson by Maia and Zeus was Hermes.
