Free woman and slaves in Athenian life held many roles, most of them supporting. They could do manual labor for pay or in the case of the women, serve as companions and wives.
it don't matter if they are men & women that they should have equality.
they were slaves not free men
A slave was not free, that was why he/she was a slave - a chattel of his owner. Slaves were used as domestics, for agriculture, mining, tradesmen, factory workers, or any variety of other tasks. The Athenian state owned Scythians who doubled as police and horse archers.
They were Greek females who bore and raised families and ran the household. However the Spartan women participated in city-life, while the Athenian women were kept at home in virtual purdah, getting out occasionally for a women's religious festival.
The primary role of the Spartan woman was to bear children for the state. The Spartan woman could choose her own husband. A man was allowed to take any woman he wanted to be his wife, but if she did not want him, she was free to fight to prevent him from having her and could kill him if she chose and was able. The Spartan woman told her men as they went to war, husband or son, "Come back carrying your shield or on it".

Free man only not women or slaves...=(
To be honest it wasn't, the spartan women were much more free and encouraged to exercise and lead a household than the Athenian women. They both kept slaves however.
Citizens were the free born men and non-citizens were women, slaves, and foreigners. Citizens can pass laws, vote, and speak in public meetings but not citizens couldn't.
Athenian women could note vote or hold office.....
Agriculture, fishing and trade. Slaves played an important role in Athenian agriculture, trades and commerce, and probably matched the numbers of free men in the workforce.
Upper class women can be priestesses and slaves work in temples.
Definitely yes. The Roman women did not need their husband's permission to leave the house and were present at dinners and public events. They could own a business and they could own property. They could free slaves and make a will. Roman women could be socially and even politically (behind the scenes) active whereas the Athenian women were mostly confined to their own wing of their house and domestic duties.Definitely yes. This depends entirely on who you are - women were far better off in Sparta as opposed to Athenian women who were housekeepers and child-rearers; Sparta had serfs who were mostly free on their own farms, Athens had slaves; Spartan citizens lived for military service, supported by the serfs, Athenian citizens had to work at a job and also do military service. Take your pick.

Women, slaves, and foreigners (metics) were excluded from participating in Athenian democracy. Only free-born adult male citizens were allowed to take part in the political decision-making process.
The Declaration was American and not French. France did not have slaves in 1776.
