There were variations, at times Dionysus. Heracles, Asclepius, Hades and Persephone substituted for the above twelve.

Misconception here; the Romans did not adopt Greek gods and change their names. They already had their own gods and simply equated them to Greek gods later.
The Roman gods were there, with names and stories. When the Romans got closer contact with the Greeks, they found the the Greek gods were similar and incorporated some of the Greek stories into their own.
