Who made the decision to go to war with troy?

When Menelaus and Helen married, every other man had to swear an oath saying they would not bother the relationship (as Helen was the most beautiful women in the world). However, when visiting Sparta, Helen was kidnapped and brought to Troy. So, Menelaus rallied the Greeks and set out for Troy. In a sense, Menelaus made the decision to go to war with Troy.

Why did the Trojan war really start?

There were a couple of reasons. A simple one is that the Greeks of the time, the 13th-11th century BC Mycenaeans, were a people with war as a central part of their culture. A more politically complex reason does involve Helen of Sparta. Helen was the daughter of the king of Sparta. She may have been as beautiful as the myths claim, but truthfully it doesn't really matter. Whoever married her would inherit the throne of Sparta and become king. The man chosen to be her husband would only be king of Sparta as long as he was married to Helen. Menelaus, the brother of King Agamemnon of Mycenae, ended up marrying Helen and earning the throne. When Paris and Helen eloped, Menelaus knew he would lose the throne to Sparta. Getting support from his brother Agamemnon, who as ruler of Mycenae was interested in keeping Sparta under his control through Menelaus, Menelaus gathered allies and struck out against the Trojans.

What happens during a pause in the Trojan War?

Hey, you might be from yc cause of our book report but i hope this works anyway. During a pause Menelaus and Paris get in a fight. Aphrodite then took Paris in a could and took him back to Troy. Menelaus was angry and went through the Trojan ranks seeking Paris, and not a man there but would have helped him for they all hated Paris, but h was gone, no one knew how or where. So Agamemnon spoke to both armies, declaring that Menelaus was victor and bidding that the Trojans give Helen back. This was just, and the Trojans would have agreed if Athena, at Hera's prompting , has not interfered. Hera was determined that the war should not end until Troy was ruined. Athena , sweeping down to the battlefield, persuaded the foolish hear of Pandarus, a Trojan, to break the truce and shoot an arrow at Menelaus. He did wso and wounded him, only slightly, but the Greeks in reage at the Treachery turned upon the Trojans and the battle was on again. Hope this helps.
