Sparta did not care much for education and focused military strength, while Athens cared very much and supported art and education while they cared little for military.
The Athens cared more about education, but the Spartans cared more about military.
It depends what part of Greece you are talking about. In Sparta, the citizens only believed in war and making the army stronger. In Athens, they cared about democracy, and the voice of the people. But women in Sparta were treated better than in Athens.
Sparta: Women had more rights than Athens. They were expected to be strong and protect the house if the men were not home. They were expected to produce stong healthy boys as well. Sparta focused mainly on the human body strength and military rather than research, development, and government. Sparta was more poor than Athens. I think Sparta had less slaves as well. Sparta's God was if Im not mistaken, Ares or Artemis. Athens: Women had less rights than Sparta and I think they were not allowed to leave the house without a slave or the husband. Athens focused on research, development, and government producing democracy which spread throughout Greece. Athens was generally a rich city. Athens' God was Athena.
They both had different political views Athens had a more free life style but Spartans started to train for the military at the age of 7. Spartans didn't care about education if it wasn't about warfare. Athens cared about grace and beauty Athens treated women badly; they were to be silently raising their children. In Sparta, however, they had military training, participated in sports events, and overall had more rights than women of all other empires of Ancient Greece.
To show that he cared for the little boy, the man cleaned his wound.
They were treated differently in different city-states, such as Sparta (Which is where I am from) called them hoplites and didn't really care about their slaves, they were usually prisoners of war, they treated them harshly and were beaten on occasion when they did something bad or wrong, and they were at the bottom of the hierarchy. Athens treated slaves more respectfully but they were still at the bottom of the hierarchy.

Truly, Sparta's attitude toward art and learning was as if they didn't exist and they actually didn't care what so ever and cared more about war and strong warriors.
