Alkyoneos, often spelled Alcyoneus, is a figure from Greek mythology known as a giant and one of the Gigantes, who were the offspring of Gaia (Earth). He is particularly noted for his role in the Gigantomachy, the battle between the giants and the Olympian gods. Alkyoneos is associated with the region of Pallene and is often depicted as being invulnerable as long as he remained on his native soil, which the gods had to overcome in order to defeat him. His story emphasizes themes of struggle between the old forces of chaos and the new order established by the Olympian deities.
