Kautilya being Chandragupta's minister and best friend. Together, the defeated the Nanda Dynasty's ruler 'Dhana Nanda'because he had teased Chandragupta when he used to belong to the 'Morya Tribe'. Chandragupta ended his rule in 297 BC. He gave up his throne to his son, Bindusara.
