Greece is often credited as one of the earliest cultures to have vampire myths, particularly with the figure of the "vrykolakas," a creature that shares similarities with modern vampire folklore. However, the concept of blood-drinking entities exists in various forms across many ancient cultures, including Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Rome. While Greece contributed significantly to vampire mythology, it is not definitively the first place to encounter the idea of vampires. The evolution of vampire legends is a complex interplay of various cultural beliefs and stories throughout history.
