Hades, in Greek mythology, was the god of riches, ruler of the dead and god of the Underworld. The Underworld was where all the dead people went, according to the Ancient Greeks. Hades' Roman name was Pluto, or Dis. He was the brother of Zeus and Poseidon. His wife was his niece Persephone (daughter of Zeus and Demeter) and he kidnapped her to marry him.
