The ship was not very big ( about the size of a Basketball court) and there were 102 people on it as well as things, cows, sheep, and things needed for the ship. There was no way to slaughter or cook an animal, so it was impossible to eat one while at sea. They were not at sea for very long as it was and they would have landed near Jamestown if they hadn't been blown off course and ended up in their future home.
