The goddess 3s.t (Isis) is frequently shown with her linen dress dyed red, the ancient Egyptian colour of life, victory, anger, fire and the sun.
Isis was connected with blood, resurrection, eternal life, rebirth, reincarnation and the Sun-Boat or solar barque. Red is an appropriate colour for all these associations.
Isis was not the only goddess to be sometimes shown wearing a red sheath-dress (others include Ma'at, Nephthys, Serket and Hathor), but it was still an unusual appearance and marked her out as special among the many gods of Egypt.
Cleopatra dressed for the occasion. For regular daily wear she more than likely wore the Greek chiton and for dinners or banquets a more elaborate version of it. For Egyptian outings or rituals she liked to dress in the colorful clothes of the goddess Isis as she considered herself to be the "New Isis".
Cleopatra, for everyday wear probably wore the standard Greek women's chiton, but of the finest materials. In public she dressed up as the goddess Isis as she thought she was actually the New Isis.
Cleopatra, worshiped the standard Egyptian gods. In addition she took on the personna of Isis. In public she liked to dress like the goddess and even called herself the new Isis. Incidentally, this is how the myth of her death by snake bite originated. The goddess Isis was always depicted with atleast one snake on her arm.
black is my fave color and other goths wear it too. some wear it all the time and some wear it and the other colors. so no. red is the color of blood and love. my friend (also a goth as well as her sister) wore a blood-red dress on her wedding and the bridesmaids wore black. she didn't have it in the church, though. she wanted it under a giant redwood in a graveyard. She loves scary things, which makes us so alike and that story had more red than black. I do wear black dresses and I wear black alot, but not 100 per cent.
