In ancient Egyptian times, the Egyptians believed in many 'gods'. Amun, Osiris, Anubis, Bek, and Bastet, to name a few. Nefertiti, and her husband, Akhenaten, ( or Amunhotep when he was younger) changed the focus of Egypt's religion from this of many gods, to the focus of one god, and unheard of god to Egypt. Aten. Akhenaten claimed that Aten was the sun god, and changed Egypt's religion to it. SO instead of worshiping many, he forced all of Egypt to worship Aten. Nefertiti was also only the second Queen in Egyptian history to pronounce herself Pharaoh. After her husband's death ( by plague) Nefertiti removed the god ATen, and replaced the others. She ruled alone for several years, then was murdered because of her husband's faith. A good book to read for more information is 'Nefertiti, Queen of Egypt, Daughter of Eternity', by Michelle Moran.
Neferitti was not a queen by royal birth but the wife of the wacky king Akhenaton(Amenhotep IV). After his death (1362 bc) Neferitti ruled between 1372-1350 bc as the queen of Egypt and restored the rival cult of Amun -the moon god.She brought equality between men and women in ownership of property and choice in any of the four professions as priestesses, midwives, dancers or mourners.
Almost nothing. Nefertiti was merely the wife of the heretic king, Anhkenaton. She may or may not have been the mother of the king Tut-Anhk-aton (later renamed Tut-Anhk-amon, and now known as King Tut) She left the court after Anhkenaten found a new wife. She may have been a quick ruler of Egypt, after Anhkenaten died, but before tut took the throne. It is doubtful, as there is no records of it, and woman rarely took the throne of Egypt. She dissapeared from any historical records, but she may have been buried in KV 35 in the Valley of the Kings.
No. Nefertiti was the "great wife" of Pharaoh Akhenaten, which means she was his main wife. However, there are some historians that believe she actually did rule towards the end of her husband's reign. At any rate, she was not an "official" pharaoh.
