They formed an alliance because they wanted to rebel against the Persians. Athens had all the brains and Sparta had all the war like abilities. Athens needed someone that was good in war. Even though Athens had a strong army it was still too small to over ride the Persian Empire. The Persians were a common enemy for Athens and Sparta. They both had something in common; liking the Persians. So the more people Athens had in their army the more likely it is for Athens to win. In the end Athens does win the war against the Persians but there are many more wars the Athenians and the Persians have had against each other.
they had different forms of government, Sparta had oligarchy while Athens had democracy. in Athens, you became a man when you turned 18, in Sparta you had to be 30. for money Athens had drachmas and Sparta had obols.
Ancient Sparta focused more on military achievements and ancient Athens thought more of academic knowledge. Athens were a democracy and Sparta was an oligarchy
Athens was enemies with Sparta and Sparta was enemies with Athens
After defeating Persia, Athens and Sparta initially maintained a fragile alliance, known as the Hellenic League. However, their differing political systems and rival ambitions quickly led to tensions. Athens pursued a more imperialistic agenda with the Delian League, while Sparta favored a more conservative, oligarchic approach. This discord ultimately culminated in the Peloponnesian War, marking the end of their alliance.
Sparta was different from Athens because Athens was more artlike and Sparta was tought to be tough ruthless people they were tought to steal kill and make slaves but on the other hand Athens did not go crazy with power like Sparta did they maintained society and they made laws to enforce what you should live like back then
As Greeks, their cultures were very similar. Their alliance was for self interest - Sparta aided Athens, and Athens reciprocated.
It was Sparta and Athens because they both hade different cultures😛😛
Geographically Athens and Sparta are very close but have different values, lifestyles, and cultures. Athens has a population of 140,000 while Sparta has 100,000 inhabitants

Sparta becaus they were more disciplined and knowledgeable when it came to war
The war between Athens and Sparta was the Peloponnesian War. the ancient Greeks called it the war between Athens and its allies and Sparta and its allies. The word Peloponnesian was used because the alliance led by Sparta against the Athenian empire was the Peloponnesian alliance, as most of the cities were in the Peloponnese Peninsula.
No city won. The Sparta alliance with Persian backing defeated the Athens alliance or empire.
No the Athens and Sparta didnÍt trade. They both had different cultures and governments but both had power over Greece. The Athens had free speaking and democracy and smaller city-states to form a more powerful rule. The Sparta had a strong military and lots of land.
Athens's finnancial differences from Sparta were that Sparta had alot more gold and Athens had alot more credit.
Because they didn't yell "this is Sparta" they yelled "This is Athens"
Athens was more artistic and Sparta was more tougher at war
