It is all about feelings - political correctness. Political correctness has no place in documenting history. History is about facts, not feelings. The CE reference is fabricated and unnecessarily confounds reference checks for all history in Western Civilization, not to mention it tends to deny and diminish the impact of a figure in history. History should never do that, no matter how distasteful that person or event is (e.g., Hitler, as a person we would like to diminish and forget). Again, history should be recorded FACTS without the filter of feelings.

BC and AD are simply the initials that have recorded our time and history for 2 centuries: a method of recording that is found in all historical documents relevant to learning history in Western Civilization. The use of CE is a sign of an altered and unreliable historical record.

There is no conversion involved-BCE and CE are simply secular euphemisms (replacements) for the religiously-associated BC (Before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini). Here is how years would be expressed in BC, AD, BCE and CE:September 22, 2010 AD (today's date)September 22, 2010 CE (today's date)January 1, 44 BCJanuary 1, 44 BCE

What does AD stand for in 2009 AD?

It is stands for an After Dinosaurs just kidding! It is Anno Domini. People usually refer it as after death for christ. But anno domini is the proper term, which means after 0 BCE. BCE is like negative numbers on a number scale. AD is the positive numbers apparently.

Which comes first ad or ce?

CE=Common Era, AD=After Death BCE=Before Common Era So I think AD came first. AD is initials for the latin "anno domine", referring to "after Christ" AD came first. A non-christian group initiated the use of bce centuries later. BC means Before Christ.
