Circe was dangerous because she was somewhat of a sorceress or witch. She was able to cast spells, mostly enchant men and turn them into animals. She was gifted in magic and had horrible powers. Many feared her. Of course she wasn't human, she was the daughter of Helios, the god of the sun and Perse, an sea nymph. So her powers, beauty and intellect were that beyond many mere mortals.
Hermes gives Odysseus a magical herb called "moly" to protect him from Circe's witchcraft. Moly has a black root and a white blossom, and it is said to be incredibly potent against enchantments and magic. This gift enables Odysseus to resist Circe's spells and ultimately confront her effectively. With Hermes' aid, Odysseus is able to protect his crew and navigate the dangerous situation with Circe.
There are many different accounts of the Cyclopes, they first being immortal giants locked in the pit of Tartarus by Uranus and rescued by Zeus during the Titan war.
