Yes. Florida was probably the least populated state of the Confederacy though. Nobody much lived there until air conditioning was invented. The highest ranking officers in the Confederacy were four star generals, and there were only eight of them. One of them was a native Floridian, Edmund Kirby Smith. Smith commanded everything west of the Mississippi for the last two years of the war, and after Vicksburg fell in 1863 he was mostly cut off from the east and on his own as far as strategy and plans. A Florida Brigade, Perry's, was in "Pickett's Charge" at Gettysburg. The only sizable battle in Florida during the war was Olustee, or Ocean Pond.
