Wood stork chicks are relatively small at birth, typically weighing around 60 to 80 grams (2 to 3 ounces). They are initially covered in down feathers and are completely dependent on their parents for food and protection. As they grow, they can reach a size of about 2 feet tall by the time they fledge, which usually occurs at around 10 to 12 weeks of age.
