Carnivores, in some cases, grew bigger than their prey. Some learnt to hunt in groups. They became stronger and grew sharper teeth. All are adapted in their own way to feed on what is around them. like the jaguar, they track their prey then, when it is found, the jaguar pierces the skull with it's teeth. lions and wolves learnt that they could achieve more when they are greater in numbers.
