Ape years are very much comparable to human years. Some species of great ape have been known to live to over 60 years of age in captivity. In the wild, however, most would be lucky to live past 30. The same could no doubt be said for humans; without medical intervention or the protection afforded us by our codes of law, our natural life-spans would be reduced drastically.
