Because if the adaptation is usefull or essential to the survival of a species then only the animals with that adaptation will get offspring and therefore more and more animals are going to have the adaptation.

For example the color of the coat by mice. If one mouse has a diffrent color than the other mice but his color matches their environment more than the coat of the other mice he is less likely to be seen by predators and therefore survive longer and get more offspring.

There is a theory that is called "natural selection" of "survival of the fittest" you should look it up for a better/longer explanation

How did anime evolve?

By the process of natural selection and adaptation to a continuously changing environment.

Why must an adaptation be inheritable if it is to cause a population to evolve?

An adaptation must be inheritable in order to be passed down from one generation to the next. If an adaptation is not inheritable, it will not be maintained in the population over time through natural selection, and therefore will not lead to evolution. Inheritability ensures that the adaptive trait can increase in frequency within a population over generations.

If a population of caterpillars feeds on the leaves of trees in a forest and is in turn food for birds that eat them off of the trees what adaptation would be most likely to evolve?

An adaptation that could evolve is for the caterpillars to develop toxic chemicals in their bodies that make them unpalatable or harmful to the birds. This would help the caterpillars defend themselves from predators and increase their chances of survival.

Why did camels evolve their unique hump adaptation?

Camels evolved their unique hump adaptation to store fat reserves, which provide them with energy and hydration during long periods of time without food or water in their desert environment.

Who had the first basic idea of evolutionary adaptation?

Charles Darwin is credited with developing the theory of evolution by natural selection, which explains how species evolve over time through the process of adaptation to their environment. Darwin's groundbreaking work "On the Origin of Species" published in 1859 laid the foundation for our understanding of evolutionary adaptation.

Why do prokaryotes evolve rapidly compared to eukaryotes?

Prokaryotes evolve rapidly compared to eukaryotes because they have shorter generation times, larger population sizes, and higher mutation rates, allowing for quicker adaptation to changing environments.

What is a beneficial adaptation?

A beneficial adaptation would be one that increases the chance of survival of an animal. An example is a bird's beak changing shapes to be able to retrieve a certain type of seed on an island.
