If a hermitt crab comes out of its shell then it is changing the shell and its not comfortable with its shell you have to make sure your shell has a variety of shells to choose from if not the poor thing will die for being naked It will go to a corner of the tank and die ..... another tip is you have to make sure the shell is tipped over where the entrance is showing if not it does not have enough muscles to pickc up the shell .....hope this helps alot
