The round worm, flatworm and segmented worm are first and foremost differentiated by the descriptors used before the word worm. Other than that, there are many worms that fit into these three categories. Some are internal parasites, others free swimming, etc.


Round worms e.g. Ascaris belong to Nematoda , they are pseudocolomate .

Flat worms e.g. Planaria belong to Platyhelminthis are acoelomate .

Segmented worms e.g. earth worm belongs to Annelida and are coelomate .
