Island foxes typically live around 6 to 8 years in the wild, although some can reach up to 10 years under optimal conditions. In captivity, where they are protected from predators and have access to regular food supplies, they may live longer. Factors such as habitat quality, availability of food, and threats from predators can influence their lifespan.

yeah a few live in my garage actually haha ///////////////////////////////////////////////////// ----------------------------------------------------- We used to have chipmunks in this area of Long Island but they've been gone for decades. Not sure why - apparently the fox population increased starting in 1998 so that may be related. But no biologists or ecologists seem to have noticed that the chipmunk population has decreased drastically on Long Island, at least in some areas.
