it all depends on what breed and how intelligent your dog is. say if it was a lab then its brain would develope faster then a terior. a dog can start learning at a very young age infact it starts learning as soon as it is born as it has lots of strange new smells to take in. if you wanted to start to teach it things like sit and stay then i would wait until it has been house trained.

Also, have someone standing behind the older dog in case he attacks or something, if your dog is temperamental. As long as you take it slow, there (hopefully) shouldn't be a problem :)
