Golden Wattle
The Golden Wattle was first formally introduced by George Bentham in the London Journal of Botany in 1842. The Golden Wattle is a flowering tree and is the floral emblem of Australia.
Acacia Pycnantha - The Golden Wattle
Australia does not have an official national tree, but it does have a national floral emblem, which is the Golden Wattle.
The golden wattle tree produces oblong-shaped seed pods rather than fruits. These pods contain small seeds and are typically dark brown in color.
Animals that may eat wattle trees include koalas, possums, and various insects. Koalas are known to feed on the leaves of certain wattle tree species, while possums may nibble on new growth. Insects such as beetles and caterpillars can also consume wattle tree leaves.
