There are several possible reasons why your betta fish may have died on the first day of bringing it home. Some common causes include stress from transportation, poor water quality, sudden changes in temperature or water parameters, or underlying health issues. It is important to ensure that the fish is acclimated properly to its new environment and that the tank conditions are suitable before introducing the fish.
The Betta Can Be Scared At first But Then They Both May Get Along By:Expert Serena (serenaexpert@yahoo.com)
No. Betta (splendens) are a small fish commonly kept as pets and are harmless to humans. Maybe if one was stupid enough to swallow one live with the tail going in first one could be choked by it.

Pop-eye in betta fish can be caused by various factors such as poor water quality, injury, or infection. It is important to first identify and address the underlying cause. Improve water conditions, maintain proper tank hygiene, and consider medication prescribed by a vet to treat any infection.
When I first got my betta, he did NOT like eating. It might take a couple days for him/her to get used to its new home.Sadly, I have also experienced guppies who do not eat. They usually were ill. Hopefully your betta is not like them.
It depends on what other fish you'll have. I have the same thing going on right now, new tank but a baby male Betta with nowhere to go just yet. I'm doing Platies but in the case of having a BABY betta, if they're together when the betta is young it could possibly work out better. Otherwise, add your other community fish FIRST then add the betta. Think about it this way: You put your betta in. He claims the whole tank as his new territory. You add other fish. He must defend it, therefore, he constantly chases, injures, or even kills your other fish. It would be less stressful and safer to put your other fish in first. I'm getting my three Platies very soon, so hopefully my little guy will turn out to be a friendly tankmate. It IS very possible to house bettas with different kinds of fish, but you should have a bigger tank - 7 gallons or more with less fish is probably safest, but it really depends on the betta. Try to find a more mellow betta if possible!
Black spots on betta fish can be caused by various factors such as stress, poor water quality, or a bacterial or fungal infection. To treat black spots on betta fish, it is important to first identify and address the underlying cause. This may involve improving water quality, reducing stressors in the fish's environment, and using medications specifically designed to treat bacterial or fungal infections. Consulting a veterinarian or experienced fish keeper for proper diagnosis and treatment is recommended.
