well i don't know for sure but it could occur very rarely, like humans some are born both sexes and as animals are related and are like the human it could maybe happen.
The clownfish, specifically the species Amphiprioninae, is known for alternating sexes annually. It starts off as a male, and can change into a female as needed within its social group. This strategy helps ensure reproductive success in the absence of certain sexes within the group.
Animals with more than two sexes are significant in the study of reproductive biology because they challenge traditional binary views of sex and reproduction. By studying these animals, scientists can gain a deeper understanding of the diversity and complexity of reproductive strategies in nature, which can provide valuable insights into evolutionary processes and the mechanisms underlying sexual reproduction.
No they absolutely do not change their sexes. Some males generally your larger more dominant males will develope later. The younger the male is when he becomes sexually mature the more inferior he is. It isn't unusual for some males to take a year or more before maturing. Some females can begin to exibit male characteristics. But they are not males despite these tendencies and actually become sterile. This is why it is believed by many people that they switch sexes, but then never truly change sexes
Animals change and adapt through evolution by natural selection.
I believe it is because the animal can change sexes based on the gender makeup of the surrounding habitat.
The Sexes Throughout Nature was created in 1875.
Battle of the Sexes - tennis - happened in 1973.
