Scarlet Macaws are in the parrot family, in macaws. Their beautiful colors are bright red, yellow, and blue. Some Macaws have green on the tips of their yellow feathers, some have blue on their yellow feathers. Scientists are still trying to decide if they should put all kinds of scarlet macaws as the same kind of bird, because they are so similar. Scarlet macaws eat fruits and nuts in the rainforest. They have four toes, two in front, two in back, that help them grab onto branches high up in the rainforest's canopy. Scarlet Macaws take care of their young until their young reaches maturity, like humans do. Scarlet Macaws mate for life, and a Scarlet Macaw and it's mate are rarely seen without each other. Scarlet Macaws live in Central and South America, in rainforests. Scarlet Macaws are a little endangered, because so many people are getting them as pets.
