It depends on the animal's melanin pigmentation and genes. Some animals have black or grey paws while others have pink skin.
Humans hands on the other hand (no pun intended) it depends on your genes and melanin pigmentation as well. I am caucasion and have very little pigmentation so my skin is pale, while an African American for example generally have more pigmentation so their skin is darker.
