Bitumen deposits have no effect on the environment unless they are disturbed by humans, if humans burn them or make fuel or asphalt out of them they release CO2 in the atmosphere which increases the greenhouse effect and provokes global warming
Bitumen sands are a natural sand or sandstone deposit which at some stage had been saturated with hydrocarbons. But which at some later stage had been exposed to conditions such that only the heavy (or long-chain) molecules remain. Or at least from which the lighter liquids and volatiles have disappeared. Actually a very common form of hydrocarbon deposit.

Perhaps the main effect on the physical apperance of bitumen caused by aging is stiffening; the bitumen gets less fluid. This applies to pure bitumens without modification. Indeed, bitumen aging is complex both in chemical and physical terms.
why bitumen is used
Mustek manufactures a variety of packed bitumen products. Their bitumen products are produced at the Europoort refinery in Rotterdam, Germany. They produce 3 types of bitumen: penetration bitumen, oxidized bitumen, and hard bitumen.
Sedimentary depositional environment
Bitumen is use as fuel.
Typically, bitumen and "asphalt" are interchangeable.
Bitumen Bi*tu"men
bitumen pitch means road surface
The harmful effects of CARS to our environment is the carbon monoxide
'asphalt' refers to a mixture of mineral aggregate and bitumen (bitumen)is the black liquid which is extracted from the crude oil....
