You can feed them commercial bird foods, like seeds and pellets. Yes! Get both! It's good to have variety. Sometimes, though, they will only pick out what they want to eat in the seed mixture bags. In this case, pellets, along with a mixture of vegetables rich in vitamin A (no avocados; they're poisonous) and the occasional treat of spray millet will suffice! Make sure you find a list of plants/items toxic to parrots just to be safe, because I can't remember most of them off the top of my head.

Toxic things to avoid (that I can recall):

  • Salty things (butter, cheese, potato chips)
  • Chocolate
  • Avocados
  • Any form of alcohol/drug
  • Apple seeds
  • Onions
  • Mushrooms
  • Sugar
  • Menadione and other preservatives (not instantly toxic, but should be avoided)
