I would call an elephant that mixes (mates?) with a cheetah as a hoax. If, in a zoo, for instance, an elephant may form a friendship with another animal (cheetah?) is possible. There are examples of tigers (and other carnivores) becoming a friend with what most would consider their natural prey. A dog befriends a tiger, a lion befriends a goat, all are examples of possibilities.
