A geoduck is a large, burrowing clam known for its elongated neck, which can extend several feet. Its shell is typically brown or beige, often with a glossy appearance, and can measure up to 8 inches in length. The neck, or siphon, is soft and fleshy, and it emerges from the shell to filter feed in the water. Overall, geoducks have a unique and somewhat unusual appearance compared to other clams.
It is a giant clam.
A siphon in a geoduck serves as a vital feeding and respiratory organ. It allows the geoduck to filter water from its surrounding environment, extracting nutrients and oxygen while expelling waste. This specialized structure helps the geoduck efficiently access food particles and maintain its metabolic processes while remaining buried in the substrate.

The Geoduck squirts water. The rest just clam-up
No, the geoduck is not really a duck. It has nothing to do with ducks or birds in general. It is, in fact, a clam, the elephant-truck clam, as the Chinese call it. The name comes from it's very long siphon, usually over 3 ft long.
