I made one of these a few years years ago for my sixth grade science class. It is pretty easy. Here is what you need.
Ingredients
1.Small water bottle (empty)
2.Olive oil
3.Food coloring
4.water
First you mix the water and food coloring together (until you get desired color)
Then u put the oil in the empty water bottle, add the food coloring and water to the conquotion the tighten the cap and shake.
The reason the oil doesn't mix with the water is because the density of the liquids is far to different to combine and or to mix.
You should try it, it's cool fun and interesting.
The lava in a lava lamp rises and falls due to changes in temperature. If the lamp is not warm enough, the lava may not heat up sufficiently to flow downward. Ensure the lamp is placed in a warm area and allow some time for the lava to heat up and flow naturally.
why does the lava sink or rise?
To make a homemade lava lamp, you will need a clear plastic bottle, water, vegetable oil, effervescent tablets (such as Alka-Seltzer), food coloring, and a flashlight (optional). Fill the bottle with water and top it off with oil, leaving some space at the top. Add a few drops of food coloring. Break the effervescent tablet into smaller pieces and drop them into the bottle to create the lava lamp effect. Shine a flashlight underneath for a better visual effect.
some kind of heat sensitive goo, and probably dye.
The main problem with making a lava lamp is achieving the right balance of ingredients and heat to create the unique bubbling effect. If the proportions are off or the lamp is too hot or too cold, the ingredients won't interact properly, and the lava lamp won't work as intended. It can take some trial and error to get it just right.
First you get a plastic bottle and give half of oil and the other half with water. Then you need a multivitamine or other fuzz things then you cut the multivitamine into pieces then you give the piece in the bottle and look
There are many ways. Do some research. ^^haha. no but seriously.
The "lava" is a mixture of carbon tetrachloride, mineral oil and paraffin wax. The liquid it floats in is water. The light source is a 40-watt light bulb. When the bulb melts the wax, it will do the lava thing on its own.
the lava lamp invented by edward craven walker Electrocardiograph in Leyden Hospital, Netherlands
Some safe and fun experiments to do at home with household items include making a baking soda and vinegar volcano, creating a homemade lava lamp using oil and water, and conducting a density experiment with different liquids like oil, water, and syrup.
To make a lava lamp, you will need water, vegetable oil, Alka-Seltzer tablets, and food coloring. Fill a bottle with water and add colored water, leaving some space at the top. Fill the rest of the bottle with oil, drop pieces of Alka-Seltzer tablets in, and watch the bubbles create the lava lamp effect.
Target, Walmart, amazon and eBay carry different brands and colors of lava lamps that are for sale. For Target and Walmart, lava lamps can be purchased online or directly from the local store.
