What is the purpose of courier?

to deliver food, medicine, messages ....in the animal world courier pigeons were trained to return to their roost from very long distances and so often carried messages between countries during love trysts, war, political situations etc...the courier pigeon would fly to it's destination..the msg would be read and then an answer or response would return with the bird to its starting point....dogs especially during wartime also had a similar role to play...and you've likely heard of the St. Bernard dogs which deliver aid to folk buried in avalanche or inaccessible places that the dogs can get to.....there are also malamutes and husky dogs that do the same kind of courier work be it messages , water, a life saving drug or serum or such like things...
