Depends on the cow. For commercial dairy cows, that use artificial insemination, they will have a calf every year or so and there is an 85% chance that it is a heifer and not a bull. This is because bull calves only go for veal, and the heifer will eventually be bred to produce milk.
For commercial beef cows, they still often use AI but it's more of a 50/50 because a steer will weigh more than a cow and ideally be worth more when it is time to sell it.

Every time - you'll never find a pit bull that was not born.
Steers aren't born as such. Steers are born as bulls and neutered soon after birth.

At birth the boy to girl ratio is 1.1 to 1.

America. I love pit bulls, and i feel so sad every time someone criticizes or gives my pit a dirty look. Not all pit bulls are mean, but is it a bad reputation that they have NOT earned, but were born into. I feel the same way, and i wish people would give them a chance.:)
