If they are not eating any of the food you are giving them then you should try leaves from some of these plants oak, willow, cherry, poplar, birch, apple or alder. If this doesn't work try dandlions or clover since this is where you can usually find larvae. If all else fails then just try some apple or carrot.

It depends on the species of caterpillar. Monarch butterfly caterpillars eat milkweeds, Swallowtail larvae eat dill. Some caterpillars eat birch tree leaves, others eat violet leaves. You have to know what kind of caterpillar it is in order to feed it the right food. If you found it on a plant, that is probably the best place to start. They need fresh leaves, not wilted.
