If your cat has a locator collar, you can use the receiver to find the cat.

If you lose your cat, the first thing you should do is contact your local animal shelters to see if they have been brought in, if not, leave your phone number and a description of the cat. They will call you if a cat matching the description gets brought in.

The 2nd thing you should do is talk to people you know, put up posters, with a picture of the cat, a description of them, their name, your name, address,and phone number.

If you have a collar on your cat, with tags, it will be a lot easier for others to identify them and contact you sooner, even if they haven't seen the posters.

• Knock on neighbour's doors asking if they've seen your kitten and to check their sheds/garages in case it got in and is trapped.
