If the ozone layer is damaged, UV rays will enter the earth. These will cause extinction of animal life.
The thick layer of fat under a marine animal's skin is called blubber, and it keeps the animal warm, much like insulation in a house.
The polar bear has black skin beneath its fur. The colour combination allows the animal to absorb heat from the sunlight to keep it warm. Polar bears have a thick layer of fat on their body. Fat being poor conductor of heat, they have minimal loss of heat from their body. They have very thick layer of fur, which again gives them the insulation needed there. Their colour is white to make them well-camouflaged in polar areas.
