Why did Snowflake have to die?

If this question concerns the story "Animal Farm" by George Orwell: the characters are based on the situation during the Russian Revolution. Napoleon represents Stalin and Snowflake represents Leon Trotsky. In real life, Trotsky was banished from Russia and eventually killed by a Secret Police member. Because the story was based off of the Russian Revolution, Orwell had to kill off Snowflake or else it wouldn't be accurate.
