Other people believe that some animals should be protected from cruelty under certain circumstances. They may rescue abandoned pets or feed wild birds. They may lobby for legislation against cruelty to certain animals, such as pets, wild horses, circus elephants, captive orcas, and endangered species. However, these same people may be unaware of the cruelty inflicted on animals used for their flesh, secretions, skin, fur, or research or entertainment potential.

More and more people are coming to believe that humans should not inflict cruelty on non-human animals for any reason. These people do not believe that animals should have to suffer for human profit, and many of them work to make other people aware of the cruelty inherent in many of their daily choices.
