Try to educate people on why they need to stop hunting the sharks. Try getting some facts together and maybe you can start a fundraiser or protection group. The link below should help. Keep up the good work.
I'm currently working on a project on this very subject, hope I can be of assistance!
Simple Prevention Methods:
- do not buy, produce, consume, etc. sharkfin soup
- do not buy pills, vitamins, herbal remedies, etc. that contain shark cartilage and always check because some do!
- do not buy shark teeth because a lot of the time sharks are killed to get these teeth. Yes you can find them washed up on the shores of beaches in certain areas, but some people find it easier just to kill a shark for the teeth, often taking the fins too. Someone once told me that if it is brown or worn, the teeth fell out somehow and washed up on shores. If the tooth is white, it was most likely forced, though I am not 100% on that.
-educate everyone you know about the facts, especially if you know someone who eats shark cartilage in any form.
More Avid Prevention Methods:
- join or sign petitions
- make some sort of attention rousing media such as a video, a drawing, a drama skit, etc. and then present it somewhere in your community
- make posters and ask local establishments if you can hang them up.
- Donate to organizations.
