The SPCA typically keeps animals in good condition, who are not old or aggressive, for a period that can range from a few days to several weeks, depending on factors such as space, adoption rates, and the specific policies of the local shelter. If an animal is not adopted within that timeframe, the SPCA may continue to provide care while actively seeking a suitable home. Ultimately, the goal is to find a permanent and loving home for each animal.

How does the spca find a home for animals?

take it into a animal rescue centre, preferably one that never puts a healthy animal down, otherwise a perfectly good dog could die just because no-one will adopt it. otherwise, you could look after it, see if you could find it's owner if it ever had one, if not you could keep it as long as you look after it properly

What specific authority does the SPCA have?

I am a USDA licensed and inspected animal quarantine facility owner. The SPCA attempts to represent themselves as a law enforcement agency. THEY ARE NOT! They are privately owned and operated small businesses that for the most part offer a great service. They take animals from owners that choose to abandon them and rescue others, nurse them back to health and sell them to pay their non-profit self set salaries. Most set their pay at 80-100K. While they claim to be a non-profit, they pay themselves vary well from donations and getting the court to confiscate animals they resell. That being said, a lot of these folks have a good heart and do a good job. And there is nothing wrong with setting a good paycheck in their business model. But far too often animal rights idiots use their clout as SPCA business owners and get courts to swing in their favor when abuse is not present and they sell the animals to make their pay check. They have absolutely no authority what so ever. You do not have to let them into your property, or answer any of their questions. If confronted by an SPCA member and you truly are not committing any offense, then call the police yourself, ask them to come to your home and see your animals and file a complaint against the individual. Then send a certified letter of intent to litigate. It would be wise to have a lawyer letter accompany your letter. You can usually get an attorney to write a letter for $100. Once the "business owner" sees a financial threat, their gone and look for the next target. THIS OF COURSE ASSUMES YOU ARE ACTUALLY TAKING GOOD CARE OF YOUR ANIMALS!! More often than not, if someone calls the SPCA, there is usually a reason. Not always, but usually. If the police have probable cause, the SPCA will attempt to have them included on the warrant. Then they of course can come onto your property. If this occurs, video tape everything! The bottom line..take care of your animals.

Dose the SPCA have a sponsor?

The SPCA has a corporate partnership program, which for all intents and purposes is the same as having a sponsor. The SPCA web site describes the benefits of partnering with the SPCA in this way: "as an ASPCA Marketing Partner, your company can enjoy high-impact sales promotions that move product and generate positive publicity and good will." ASPCA Pet Insurance, ASPCA Collection, Fresh Step, 9Lives Cat Food, Lowe's, Red Lion Hotels, Subaru, and Animal Planet all sponsor the SPCA.
