They tend to do different things. Many contributors just apologize and try to avoid doing what they were asked not to do. Some will argue a bit and eventually come around to following the rules. Some get mad and quit or ask to be removed. But then there are some who do things that are inappropriate or even illegal (eg., threats). Harassment, profanity, and threats after a warning are never appropriate.
