Food For The Poor raises funds and provides direct relief assistance to the poor in 17 Latin American and Caribbean countries, usually by purchasing specifically requested materials and distributing them through the churches and charity organizations already operating in areas of need. In addition to feeding 2 million people a day, Food For The Poor provides housing, health care, education, water projects, emergency relief and micro-enterprise assistance. Since the devastating Haiti earthquake on Jan. 12, 2010, Food For The Poor has sent more than $155 million in aid to the country and built more than 1,174 permanent houses for the homeless there.
